Welcome to 2nd Grade at Whitehouse Primary!
August 19, 2015 Homework Sheets Every night, students should read for 15 minutes. Students can read silently or aloud to a parent. Students can also be read to during this time. Reading a book or two together before bed is a great way to wind down from the day and combine quality family time with homework time. Students are supposed to record the title of the book they are reading on the homework sheet in the box labeled "book title". Homework sheets should be filled out and initialed every night. This week has been a practice week. Beginning next week, I will check folders periodically and award Dojo points to students whose homework sheets are filled out. Accelerated Reader We have not started AR yet. We will begin next week. Additional Supplies Needed As soon as possible, please send the following items to school:
First Day We had an amazing first day of school! I can tell it's going to be a wonderful year. The kids were excited, funny, and polite. This was probably one of my smoothest first days of school. I also want to thank all of the families for sending supplies, donating items, asking what we need, offering to volunteer, and turning in paperwork quickly. Your support has made me feel all warm and fuzzy about being back at Whitehouse Primary! Please remember that if there's anything you need from me, just let me know! Spelling Groups Please review the document below explaining how spelling will work this year. The first two full weeks of school will be practice weeks, as students review long and short vowels, while also learning the routines for sorting words into categories. |
