Spelling Links
Several parents have requested the spelling lists so they can easily find the week's words on Spelling City. Click on the link to the right, then find your student's list using the list below. These lists correspond with the number at the top of the spelling list sent home on Mondays.
Here are a few activities you can do during the week to help your child learn the spelling pattern of the week. 1. Say and sort: Students arrange the headers across the top of their workspace. They say each word and sort according to the sound/pattern of the word. Use the completed written sort sent home on Mondays as an answer key. 2. Racing sort: Students arrange headers across the top of their workspace. They sort all their words as quickly as possible. Repeat once or twice to work for an improved time. 3. Homophones: Many lists will have multiple homophones. Have your child draw a picture clue on the card to help them with the word meaning. For example, draw a few steps on 'stair' and two eyes on 'stare'. 4. Have your child circle or highlight the repeated spelling in each word of a category after sorting their words. Notice whether the spelling pattern is located in a certain position in the word; beginning, middle, or end. 5. Use Spelling City! |
